In a recent video, Neoen Australia profiled key women at the business that are working on the 412MW Goyder South Stage 1 wind farm.

This project video highlighted the efforts of construction workers from GE Vernova and Elecnor Australia, who have been instrumental to its development.

Neoen’s Construction Manager, Ines Bechameil, offered insights into the construction process and her motivations as a leader in the renewables sector.

“At the peak of construction we have had up to 600 construction workers on site, and during operation we will have 10 permanent position. Neoen is committed to employ local workers and local suppliers as well,” she said.

“What I find the most satisfying is that you can actually see the results of all the hard work that the team is putting.

“It’s always good to see the wind turbines coming out of the ground and starting generating, that makes me feel pretty proud of what I’m doing.”

According to Neoen, Goyder South Stage 1 is the first part of the company’s Goyder Renewables Zone, a flagship project combining wind, solar and storage, located near Burra in South Australia’s Mid North region.

Goyder South has received development approval for a total of 1200 MW of wind generation, 600 MW of solar generation and 900 MW of battery storage capacity, making it the State’s largest renewable project.

Future stages of the project will be unlocked with the arrival of Project EnergyConnect, the new 800 MW transmission interconnector linking South Australia with New South Wales, supporting South Australia’s ambition to become a major clean energy exporter.
