Downer has taken a significant step forward in the Mornington Battery Energy Storage System {BESS} project with the arrival of a 220/33/33 kV, 290 MVA transformer.
According to Downer, the delivery moves the project closer to energisation.
In collaboration with AusNet, Downer is working to deliver the Balance of Plant infrastructure for the BESS, which is set to be one of the largest of its kind in Victoria. The project is expected to be completed later this year.
With its in-house engineering and project management capabilities, Downer continues to play a key role in connecting next-generation BESS storage solutions, supporting the transition to cleaner energy.
The company is one of the few Australian-owned, self-performing Tier 1 contractors in the country’s energy sector.
