Victoria lifts hurdle to 40% renewables by 2025

Victoria has set itself the goal that 40% of electricity generated in the state will come from renewable sources by 2025.

Currently, about 14 per cent of Victoria’s electricity comes from renewable sources.

By 2025 it’s expected up to 5400MW of new large-scale renewable energy capacity will be built in Victoria – worth about $2.5 billion of investment in the state.

About 4000 new jobs in the renewable energy sector may be created during the peak year of construction, expected in 2024, and about a 12% reduction in greenhouse emissions from electricity generation by 2034-35.
