Victoria’s transition to renewable energy is gaining momentum, with the State Government investing over $1 million to bolster local renewables industry capabilities critical to achieving net-zero.
Four Victorian businesses will share the funding under the Made in Victoria – Energy Technologies Manufacturing Program, announced by Minister for Jobs and Industry Natalie Hutchins.
The grants will enable these manufacturers to upgrade equipment and adopt new technologies, paving the way for increased production of renewable energy components.
The projects are set to create 13 new jobs and position these businesses to seize emerging opportunities in the green energy sector.
Minister Hutchins emphasised the role of local manufacturing in Victoria’s clean energy future.
“We’re helping some of our most innovative local manufacturers to be part of the growing renewables sector, create new jobs and drive economic growth right across the state,” she said.
According to the Government, programs like this aim to reduce reliance on international supply chains and build a more resilient, local renewable energy sector.
Victoria’s government has set bold climate targets, including net-zero emissions by 2045, 40 per cent renewable electricity by 2025, and 95 per cent renewable electricity by 2035.
