Tindo Solar, one of Australia’s only solar panel manufacturers, recently claimed it is planning to build a $100 million factory to boost Australian-made solar panels.
Richard Petterson, Tindo’s chief executive, said on a social network that the company’s vision is to commence production by mid-2025 and manufacture 7000 panels per day at full capacity.
“This move goes beyond mere manufacturing; it’s a commitment to bolstering Australia’s domestic sovereignty and affirming our energy independence,” Petterson said.
“Tindo Solar envisions playing a pivotal role in meeting the considerable demand, contributing to the estimated 22,000 PV panels expected to be installed daily to achieve our decarbonisation targets.”
“It is critical that Australia moves quickly and ensures we enjoy the benefits of the energy transition by creating hundreds of jobs and establishing a domestic renewables manufacturing industry.”
Founded in 2011 by Adrian Ferraretto, Richard Inwood, and Ben Kerry, Tindo Solar boasts itself as a wholly Australian-owned and operated company focused on increasing manufacturing output and creating Australian jobs in the advanced manufacturing sector.
Tindo Solar opened its expanded 150MW factory in Adelaide in 2023, but has yet to reach full capacity.
At present, over 3.4 million Australian households have integrated solar panels, exerting demand on renewable energy markets, particularly on wind and solar farms.
