One of the world’s leading solar panel manufacturers LONGi, has achieved a groundbreaking new world record for silicon solar cell efficiency, reaching an impressive 27.30 per cent.
The milestone, certified by Germany’s Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin, marks LONGi’s 17th world-record achievement in solar cell efficiency since April 2021.
It also solidifies the company’s position as a leader in the global solar energy industry.
LONGi now holds dual world records for efficiency in crystalline silicon solar cells and crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem solar cells.
In November 2023, it set a record of 33.9 per cent efficiency in crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem solar cells.
The announcement was made during a celebratory event in Madrid, Spain, attended by LONGi’s founder and president Li Zhenguo, Vice President Dennis She, Chief Scientist Dr. Xu Xixiang, and client representatives worldwide.
Alongside the efficiency record, LONGi unveiled its flagship Hi-MO 9 solar module, featuring 2nd generation Hybrid Passivated Back Contact (HPBC) solar cell technology and TaiRay wafers.
“Our new Hi-MO 9 module allows world-leading power generation and outmatches other technologies on the market in an equal land-use scenario,” She said.
“It retains this performance throughout its life, as the module is designed to the highest standards of reliability. Solar farm owners can rest assured that a plant built from the Hi-MO 9 module will help them make the most efficient use of their land and get the most value out of sunlight.”
The Hi-MO 9 promises exceptional performance, with a maximum 660W power output and up to 24.43 per cent conversion efficiency.
Designed for diverse environments like lakes, mountains and deserts, it is poised to revolutionise solar energy generation globally.
The highly anticipated panels will be produced at LONGi’s Jiaxing Production Base, recognised by the World Economic Forum as a Global Lighthouse Factory accelerating Fourth Industrial Revolution manufacturing technologies.
Australian customers can expect the Hi-MO 9 to arrive by Q4 2024, thanks to LONGi’s efforts ensuring a smooth launch.
