LONGi, one of the world’s leading solar technology companies, has announced the launch of its latest breakthrough product, the Hi-MO X6 Max series.
This launch marks a significant milestone for the company and the entire photovoltaic (PV) industry, following the recent industry-wide consensus on standardised module and wafer sizes.
In July 2023, LONGi joined eight other major manufacturers in agreeing upon new uniform dimensions for rectangular silicon wafers and modules. A month later, the company collaborated with five additional companies to establish standardised specifications for 72-cell rectangular silicon wafers, measuring 182.2mm x 191.6mm.
The Hi-MO X6 Max series represents LONGi’s first large-scale transition to these newly standardised wafer (182.2×191.6mm) and module (2382×1134mm) dimensions.
Designed specifically for distributed PV applications, the series incorporates LONGi’s cutting-edge ‘TaiRay Inside’ and HPBC (high-performance bifacial cell) technologies, delivering unprecedented stability, reliability, and power generation efficiency.
“The standardised dimensions of Hi-MO X6 Max maximise customer benefits and reduce costs for engineering and material partners,” Lv Yuan, head of the LONGi Product and Solution Centre said.
“The optimised dimensions also enhance container utilisation during transportation, once again saving costs.”
According to LONGi, the new Hi-MO X6 Max series offers several key advantages over conventional modules.
Compared to the previous Hi-MO X6 model, the new series can reduce transportation costs by $0.61 per kilowatt while improving container utilisation by 4.4 per cent to 98.5 per cent.
Additionally, the higher power output of the Hi-MO X6 Max translates to a 3.57 per cent reduction in balance-of-system costs for system installation, amounting to savings of approximately $4.16 per kilowatt.
The Hi-MO X6 Max product family not only inherits the core values of high quality, advanced technology, and exceptional reliability from the Hi-MO X6 series but also represents an upgrade in three dimensions: new technology (TaiRay Inside and HPBC integration), new size (post-standardisation dimensions), and new product offerings (including the Ultra Black “Artist” model for distributed markets).
LONGi’s Jiaxing production base, recognised by the World Economic Forum (WEF) as a ‘Global Lighthouse’ factory in December 2023, plays a pivotal role in the intelligent manufacturing of the Hi-MO X6 Max series and HPBC products.
The facility extensively integrates cutting-edge technologies such as the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Big Data, AI, and digital twinning, enabling flexible automation, AI-powered visual inspection, and intelligent order management.
The launch of the Hi-MO X6 Max series marks a significant step forward for LONGi and the PV industry as a whole, leveraging standardised dimensions to streamline supply chains, reduce material waste, and facilitate easier maintenance and management.
With its commitment to technological innovation and sustainable development, LONGi continues to lead the industry’s transition to high-quality, environmentally friendly solar energy solutions.
