Global renewable energy leader LONGi will highlight energy equity and biodiversity conservation at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku.
The conference is running from November 11-22 under the theme “In Solidarity for a Green World”, as global leaders gather to address climate challenges amid mounting geopolitical tensions.
According to LONGi, its presence at the summit will focus on expanding access to clean energy in developing nations, building on its recent partnerships.
The company launched a three-year collaboration with UNHCR last year to support climate action initiatives in refugee communities.
In a separate project, LONGi partnered with shipping giant A.P. Moller-Maersk to donate 301 kilowatts of solar modules to power hospitals, schools, and villages across 12 locations in Malawi.
On the biodiversity front, LONGi plans to announce a new conservation initiative with Deeprock Group at a UN Press Conference during COP29.
This follows the company’s recent “Zero-Carbon Life Plan for Pandas” project, which provides solar power to research facilities in China’s Qinling Mountains.
The company’s commitment to the region is already evident through its involvement in Azerbaijan’s largest operational solar facility.
LONGi supplied all modules for the recently inaugurated 230 megawatts Garadagh Solar PV Plant, developed by Masdar.
The facility generates enough electricity to power 110,000 homes while reducing carbon emissions by 200,000 tonnes annually.
“LONGi looks forward to collaborating with global stakeholders at COP29 to drive action on energy equity and biodiversity conservation,” Zhang Haimeng, Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of LONGi said.
Founded in 2000, LONGi has expanded beyond its core solar technology business to include hydrogen equipment and green energy solutions, positioning itself as a key player in the global zero-carbon transition.
