CleanCo has announced its collaboration with Coles to provide 95 per cent of the latter’s electricity needs in Queensland.
This partnership is fuelled by renewable energy sourced from Neoen’s Western Downs Green Power Hub, the largest solar farm in Australia, representing a significant step in Coles’ commitment to achieving 100 per cent renewable electricity by June 2025.
Consumers are informed that their visits to Coles, a major energy consumer in Queensland’s commercial landscape, are powered by renewable energy.
Made possible through public investment in the state’s energy assets, this development aligns with a broader trend among large commercial energy users opting for cleaner energy in Queensland.
CleanCo’s investments in renewable projects, including the Western Downs Green Power Hub, Neoen’s Kaban Green Power Hub, and the recently launched Dulacca Wind Farm, contribute a substantial 737MW of renewable energy to Queensland’s grid.
According to Mick de Brenni MP, QLD’s Minister for Energy, Renewables, and Hydrogen, this collective effort is integral to the state’s pursuit of a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
“This arrangement is further proof of the Palaszczuk government’s commitment to working with innovative, forward-thinking corporations that share our vision to transition to a clean energy future.”
Jo Brown, Coles Queensland State Manager said now more than 95 per cent of the retail giant’s electricity needs in Queensland are supplied by CleanCo.
“This exciting development builds on the changes we’ve made across the business to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and achieve our 100 per cent renewable electricity goals by June 2025,” he said.
