AusNet has successfully taken delivery of a 220/33/33 kV, 290 MVA transformer for a grid-scale BESS project on the Mornington Peninsula.
According to AusNet, the transformer, which connects to AusNet’s 220kV transmission network, arrived on time and on budget, marking a significant step in bolstering regional energy stability and advancing Australia’s clean energy transition.
The project’s success was attributed to close collaboration with Wilson Transformer Company, whose expertise helped navigate technical complexities, transport logistics, and construction planning.
“We now look forward to installing and commissioning this strategically significant transformer in collaboration with Wilson Transformers and our construction partner, Downer Group — taking this project one step closer to energisation,” AusNet said in a statement on LinkedIn.
“Every step like this brings us closer to accelerating the energy transition and achieving a net-zero future.”
Richard Pawlik, General Manager of Infrastructure Investment at AusNet, expressed enthusiasm about the achievement.
“Another transformer delivery ahead of time and on budget to accelerate the transition. More progress is being made in the right direction, and we wouldn’t have reached this point without our key supply partners,” Pawlik said.
