Anker SOLIX unveils XE, the next-generation dual-cycle home battery, built with Australia’s home battery rebate in mind.
Following the implementation of the Federal Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program’s tiered rebate structure on 1 May, Australia’s residential energy storage market has reached a critical turning point. At the Smart Energy Conference and Exhibition and the exclusive launch event ‘Anker SOLIX Day’ on 6 May, Anker SOLIX unveiled the XE – a next-generation home battery solution.
Built around a 7 kilowatt-hour (kWh) modular foundation and engineered for daily dual-cycling, the XE shatters the industry’s long-standing ‘bigger is always better’ mentality. It arrives as the first home battery on the Australian market, specifically purpose-built – not passively adapted – to align with the new rebate economics and address local installer pain points.
The launch bridged two major industry events. Following a daytime showcase at the Smart Energy Conference and Exhibition, the evening transitioned to Darling Harbour for an exclusive product reveal. John Grimes, Chief Executive Officer of the Smart Energy Council, delivered the opening address.
Highlighting the rapid momentum of Australia’s energy storage sector and the need for ongoing innovation, Grimes noted: “It’s heartening to see that there are now 380,000 cheaper home batteries installed, collectively delivering more than 10 gigawatt-hours. Anker SOLIX’s all-in-one system is very exciting. Looking ahead, we’ve got to unlock plug-in solar balcony storage systems in Australia. That’s a massive opportunity for the country, and it’s actively on our policy agenda at the Smart Energy Council.”
The opportunity across 4 million solar roofs

During the technical briefing, Anker SOLIX detailed how the XE answers the demands of the next-generation storage market through three core capabilities
1) Rebate-Ready: Precisely targeting the subsidy sweet spot
With the shift to a tiered structure, the first 14 kWh of installed capacity has become the “sweet spot” for securing the highest per-kWh federal subsidy. The XE features a 7 kWh modular design with 100 per cent Depth of Discharge (DOD) –meaning no hidden reserve eating into usable capacity. Its right-sized 14 kWh battery plus 5 kW inverter configuration aligns perfectly to capture 100 per cent of the tier-one rebate, while the 28 kWh setup precisely covers high-consumption households. This prevents homeowners from paying for redundant capacity and maximises policy benefits.

2) Dual-Cycle Power: Maximising solar value
To leverage the abundant, near-free midday solar generated under the Solar Sharer policy, the XE disruptively supports two full charge-discharge cycles daily. This turns a single 7 kWh module into 14 kWh of daily usable output – capturing midday solar for the evening peak, and storing cheap off-peak grid electricity overnight. Powered by premium 314 Ampere-hour utility-grade Lithium Iron Phosphate cells rated for 10,000 cycles (67 per cent above the industry standard), the XE ensures a 15-year lifespan even with high-frequency dual-cycling. It fully qualifies for the extreme throughput demands of Virtual Power Plant (VPP) programmes like Victoria and New South Wales VPP.
3) Unibody Design & Wireless Meter: Slashing installation labour
Confronting Australia’s high labour and commissioning costs, the XE offers a direct solution. The product integrates a five kW inverter and battery into a single compact unibody, and introduces an industry-rare wireless meter, eliminating complex current transformer clamp wiring and external communication cables. This shrinks the standard 3.5-4 hour installation time of traditional split systems down to just two hours. Not only does this cut wiring errors by 90 per cent, but it also empowers installers to realistically deliver two systems per day. Available in both alternating current coupled and Hybrid architectures, the XE perfectly covers the massive demand for both new installations and retrofits.
The Anker SOLIX XE is currently undergoing Clean Energy Council listing and is anticipated to reach Australian retail shelves in August.
