Funding has been awarded in the WA Government’s $8 million Wind Energy Manufacturing Co-Investment Program, delivered in collaboration with the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre (AMGC).
The program offers up to 50 per cent of eligible project costs on a matched-funding basis and supports manufacturers through two funding streams for market entry and growth.
Among the grant recipients, the state will co-invest $453,230 in Turbine Solutions to expand specialised wind turbine maintenance services, aiming to create up to 15 jobs and deliver $11.2 million in new revenue over five years.
Turbine Solutions will upskill its workforce with wind-specific training and deploy advanced tools for critical maintenance tasks.
Priority services include bearing replacements and borescope inspections of main shafts – procedures that are vital to turbine performance and reliability.
Through a partnership with a leading international Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Turbine Solutions will commercialise these services locally, positioning itself as a foundational service provider for Western Australia’s renewable energy transition.
The company says it will draw on its oil and gas experience to reduce downtime, improve safety, and deliver faster, locally executed campaigns.
“Western Australia has the skills, ingenuity and industrial capability to lead the nation in renewable energy and advanced manufacturing,” Premier Roger Cook.
“This investment in Turbine Solutions shows how local businesses can pivot their expertise in oil and gas into new clean energy industries, creating jobs and strengthening WA’s economy.”
Energy and Decarbonisation and Manufacturing Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said: “Turbine Solutions is a great example of a WA company applying decades of experience in the resources sector to emerging opportunities in wind energy”.
“Through the Wind Energy Manufacturing Co-Investment Program, we’re helping local businesses build new capabilities, create skilled jobs, and take their place in global renewable supply chains.”
Turbine Solutions Director Eugenio Sanchez said the company will use the funding to establish a specialised workforce and service model.
“With support from the Western Australian Government and AMGC, we’re building a specialised team, toolkit, and service model tailored for the wind energy sector, focused on boosting turbine performance and cutting downtime,” he said.
“The Wind Energy Manufacturing Co-Investment Program has been the launchpad for Turbine Solutions to use our oil and gas turbine experience and apply these capabilities to wind.”
Australian Winders and RCR Advanced Technologies have also received funding under the program. Across the three projects, the initiative is expected to create more than 85 new jobs and generate $65 million in new revenue for the State economy within five years.
