Construction of South Australia’s largest wind farm project has reached a major milestone.
Neoen has confirmed the installation of the final turbine at its Goyder South Stage 1 wind farm near Burra in the state’s Mid North.
The installation of the 75th and final turbine this month marks a major step towards the start of operations at what will be the largest wind farm in Neoen’s global portfolio.
“April is becoming a celebratory month for our construction teams working on assets in South Australia,” the company said.
“We are proud of the dedication and hard work from everyone involved and grateful for the ongoing support of surrounding communities.”
Goyder South Stage 1 is part of the broader Goyder Renewables Zone, a flagship hybrid project combining wind, solar, and battery storage.
Once fully developed, the zone will feature up to 1200 megawatts (MW) of wind, 600 MW of solar, and 900 MW of battery storage capacity — making it the largest renewable energy development in South Australia.
The project is strategically located to capitalise on the upcoming Project EnergyConnect, an 800 MW transmission interconnector that will link South Australia with New South Wales.
The interconnector is expected to unlock further stages of Goyder South and bolster South Australia’s ambitions to become a major exporter of renewable energy to the eastern states.
