Australasian venture capital firm Pacific Channel has expanded its climate-tech investment footprint into Southeast Asia through the acquisition of ENGIE Factory Asia-Pacific Pte Ltd.
The deal includes the transfer of investment management responsibilities for seven early-stage climate-tech ventures operating across solar energy, cooling technologies, sustainable housing, bioenergy, climate markets and data centre efficiency.
Under the acquisition, Pacific Channel’s Singapore operations will be rebranded as Pacific Channel Climate Ventures, establishing a regional base for the firm in Singapore and strengthening its presence across the broader Asia-Pacific (APAC) market.
Brent Ogilvie, Managing Partner at Pacific Channel, shared that the acquisition is part of the company’s regional climate-tech strategy.

“This marks a significant expansion of Pacific Channel’s climate-tech investment platform across the Asia-Pacific region, extending our presence and active early-stage investment model beyond Australia and New Zealand into Southeast Asia,” Ogilvie said.
The acquisition adds seven climate-tech ventures to Pacific Channel’s portfolio, including businesses focused on distributed solar solutions, energy-efficient cooling systems and sustainable building technologies.
According to Ogilvie, the ventures will continue to receive corporate support from ENGIE through its broader innovation ecosystem where relevant, while Pacific Channel provides active investment management, governance support and commercialisation assistance.
“The seven early-stage climate-tech ventures have strong foundations, and we are pleased to be able to apply our active investment model to provide the founders and management teams with the specialist investment support, governance experience and access to our networks needed to help them move into their next phase of growth,” he said.
As part of the transition, Singapore-based team members from ENGIE Factory APAC will remain with the platform, including Tim van Vliet, who joins Pacific Channel as Principal and Southeast Asia Region Manager.
Van Vliet explained that the acquisition would provide a stronger platform for regional climate-tech companies seeking broader market expansion opportunities.
“I’m excited to be joining the Pacific Channel team and continuing to support these founders as they grow,” he said.
“Pacific Channel has a strong track record as an active early-stage investor, and this creates a strong platform to help companies from Singapore and Southeast Asia scale into broader regional and global markets.”
Pacific Channel currently manages approximately $140 million in assets and has invested in 77 companies across climate-tech, health and agri-food sectors. According to the firm, its Singapore expansion will strengthen collaboration opportunities between investors, co-investors and portfolio companies across Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia.
