Big batteries charge into the spotlight

Australia’s large-scale battery sector is gathering pace, with developers and operators rolling out projects that are reshaping the nation’s renewable energy landscape.

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) have become a central focus for investment and innovation, as utilities, developers and governments seek to integrate more renewables and stabilise the grid.

Several high-profile projects are under way, including Akaysha’s 850 MW Waratah Super Battery in New South Wales, AGL’s conversion of the Liddell Power Station site in the Hunter Valley, Synergy’s Collie BESS in Western Australia, Equis’ Calala project in New South Wales and EnergyAustralia’s Wooreen BESS in Victoria.

Industry stakeholders across planning, construction, supply and operations are increasingly positioning themselves within this growing market. ecogeneration’s upcoming edition will spotlight the companies and experts driving this transformation, with in-depth coverage of the technologies, challenges and opportunities shaping the sector.

Expressions of interest are now open for organisations wanting to showcase their expertise through ecogeneration’s special BESS issue. Packages include a full-page advertisement, a dedicated editorial feature produced by ecogeneration’s editorial team, and amplification across the magazine’s digital channels.
