Atmos advances Teebar BESS with ECI partnership

Atmos Renewables has signed an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) Agreement with specialist energy infrastructure provider Enerven. The agreement marks a significant milestone for the project, which is set to become one of the state’s most substantial future storage assets.

The five-month ECI phase will include site studies, detailed engineering design, management plans and permitting support. This groundwork will help shape delivery of a system targeting 400 megawatt (MW) of capacity and up to 1600 megawatt-hour (MWh) of storage over four hours. This will support the critical infrastructure required for Queensland’s (QLD) energy transition and improve grid resilience.

Enerven brings deep experience in delivering large-scale storage projects, including work on Origin’s Eraring Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and AGL’s Torrens Island and Liddell systems.

Aideen McGuigan, Development Manager at Atmos, shares that the organisation’s selection of Enerven as the early-stage balance-of-plant contractor “strengthens our delivery confidence and our ability to achieve the project’s objectives and timeframes.”

“As this is a first development project in Queensland for both Enerven and Atmos, we look forward to creating long-lasting benefits and opportunities for local contractors and supporting the local supply chain so that the Teebar BESS delivers enduring value for the state and its communities,” McGuigan adds.

Atmos emphasises the organisation’s focus on partnering with First Nations businesses, building local employment pathways, supporting regional capability through procurement, and supply chain opportunities.

Construction is expected to begin in middle-late 2026, with an estimated generation of 150-200 jobs at peak.
