Suvarnabhumi Airport, one of Thailand’s busiest international aviation hubs, is embarking on a groundbreaking journey to become the country’s first green airport, with ATESS playing a pivotal role in this transformative initiative.
Under the management of Airports of Thailand (AOT), the airport has launched a pilot program to introduce electric taxis for passenger services, including the installation of charging stations for the participating e-taxis.
This move aims to promote sustainable transportation in Thailand and contribute to the development of a low-carbon society.
In the initial phase of this project, AOT has installed 16 sets of ATESS-authorised EV Anywhere charging stations, model EVD-40S/D, and 2 sets of REVO EVD-150D in the long-term parking area, Zone E.
To further support the present and future electric vehicle taxi services, the airport is also installing 12 sets of 150kW/360kW (kilowatt) ATESS superfast DC chargers, REVO EVD150/360D, which will cater to shuttle buses, public service buses, central buses, and other bus operations within the airport.
By the year 2024, Suvarnabhumi Airport aims to have 1000 electric taxis in operation, a significant step towards its goal of becoming an “environmentally friendly airport” or “green airport”, achieving organisational stability and sustainable development.

AOT, which manages six major airports in Thailand, is committed to conducting business responsibly under the principles of good governance, considering social and environmental factors.
The adoption of electric vehicles at Suvarnabhumi Airport is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 50 per cent, equivalent to millions of tons annually.
This collaborative effort between ATESS and Suvarnabhumi Airport exemplifies Thailand’s commitment to transitioning towards a greener future and positions the country as a regional leader in sustainable airport operations.
