Anker SOLIX, a provider of residential energy storage solutions, just announced the successful integration of its X1 home battery system with GloBird Energy’s ZeroHero Virtual Power Plant (VPP) program.
This integration will enable Australian homeowners to participate in VPP energy trading, while maintaining full control over their energy storage preferences.
Expanding consumer choice in energy markets
The integration represents a significant development in Australia’s residential energy landscape, providing Anker SOLIX customers with additional flexibility in selecting VPP service providers. Through GloBird Energy’s ZeroHero programme, participating households can access competitive rates of up to $1 per kilowatt-hour during peak demand events, alongside zero-cost midday charging during periods of solar abundance.
Technical integration streamlines activation
The cloud-based integration eliminates the need for additional hardware installations or technician visits. Existing Anker SOLIX X1 customers can activate GloBird Energy’s VPP services directly through the Anker app, with the ability to switch between participating VPP providers as market conditions and personal preferences evolve.
The integration maintains the core functionality of the X1 system, while enabling automated participation in grid stability programmes. During designated VPP events, the system can supply stored energy back to the grid and generate revenue for homeowners, while supporting network reliability during peak demand periods.
Customers retain full control over their participation, with the ability to set their own backup reserve levels and define when the system participates in VPP events. The programme provides access of up to three hours in free charging daily during off-peak periods, reaching up to $1 per kilowatt-hour during these periods.
Addressing return on investment
The expanded VPP options directly address a primary consideration for prospective battery storage customers: The timeframe required to recoup initial system costs. By combining household solar generation with optimised VPP participation, the X1 system provides multiple revenue streams that can materially reduce payback periods.
GloBird Energy’s rate structure, which includes both peak event payments and favourable charging arrangements, offers a compelling economic proposition for customers evaluating energy storage investments. The flexibility to compare and select VPP providers based on individual usage patterns further enhances the value proposition.
Availability and eligibility
The GloBird Energy VPP integration is now available to Anker SOLIX X1 customers in eligible service areas. Specific eligibility criteria, including geographic availability and minimum system requirements, vary by location. Prospective participants should consult GloBird Energy’s website or contact their local Anker SOLIX installer for detailed information regarding programme availability and terms.
