The E20 Series offers new features to enhance power generation in solar photovoltaic panels:

  • It uses SunPower’s world record 22.4 per cent efficiency Maxeon™ solar cell technology, which captures significantly more sunlight and conducts more electrical current than conventional solar cells
  • It flexibly accommodates the highest performing transformer-less inverters – which are more efficient, lighter, easier to install and lower cost – to further maximise system output
  • Its new positive power tolerance rating guarantees that users will reliably get the performance they paid for in each panel, or more.

Why does efficiency matter?

Efficiency refers to the percentage of sunlight hitting the panel that gets converted into electricity. Higher panel efficiency means that the system can generate more power, maximising savings.

SunPower panels average approximately 50 per cent more efficiency than conventional solar panels, and two to four times more efficiency than thin film solar technology.

The E20 Series will be available to homeowners and businesses through SunPower’s partner network in Europe and Australia in the third quarter of 2011. It will be available in North America and Asia at the beginning of 2012.

SunPower will be expanding the E20 features listed above to the E19 and E18 Series panels this year.
