A Queensland University of Technology research project aimed at developing renewable energy storage and demand management technology is underway.
Queensland University of Technology Power Engineering Chair Professor Gerard Ledwich is leading the study.
Professor Ledwich hopes to develop storage and demand management systems to ensure renewable electricity can be better stored during low usage times for use in peak periods, cutting down the amount of fossil generation that needs to be available as a back-up.
“Our aim is to develop new storage and management systems to better harness all of the electricity sources available and give the electricity grid greater strength. This will benefit all electricity users, not only those in remote locations," Professor Ledwich said.
