Solar plane completes maiden voyage in Switzerland

An aeroplane entirely powered by solar panels, the Solar Impulse prototype plane HB-SIA, has completed its maiden flight over the Swiss town of Payerne
The plane, which has a wingspan of 63 m wingspan and a weight of only 1,700 kg, spent two hours in the air.

Solar Impulse, who have partnered with OMEGA and the Swatch Group for the project, plans to circumnavigate the globe in the solar plane.
