Alpurrurulam will also receive solar PV panels to assist with generating electricity, making it the only community in the Northern Territory to use both solar and wind power.

Combined, there will be almost 1 MW of solar panels installed across the three communities by the Territory Government.

The three renewable energy power stations are on track to begin generating electricity in early 2012 and once commissioned, the solar and wind power stations will supply around 20–30 per cent of the total electricity needs for Ti Tree, Kalkarindji and Alpurrurulam.
