Renewable energy company Regen Power is the first organisation to receive funding through the Federal Government’s Researchers in Business program, an Enterprise Connect initiative.
The Canning Vale-based company will use $50,000 to employ a mechanical engineering masters student from Curtin University to work on a project which uses wind turbine energy to power telecommunications towers in remote areas.
Federal Innovation Minister Kim Carr said “Building a culture of innovation in Australian industry begins in universities and other technical institutions. Commercialising the ideas developed in these institutions – converting them into accessible and profitable business mechanisms – is the next vital step in the innovation process.”
The Australian Innovation Festival, from 26 April – 30 May, aims to encourage and support networking and business opportunities for participants in the areas of R&D and technology commercialisation, across all sectors including the environment.
