Queensland-based company Quantum Power Ltd has successfully commissioned its second biogas-fired power plant. Located in Beaudesert in Queensland, the site uses biogas from AJ Bush & Son’s covered anaerobic waste pond to produce electricity for onsite consumption. Quantum Power built, owns and operates this biogas-fired power plant, and looks forward to further expansion of its innovative technology bundle on a broad scale throughout Australia.

Quantum has worked closely with the management team of AJ Bush & Son’s Beaudesert site, to provide the site with electricity from the biogas captured from their covered anaerobic waste ponds.

Quantum Power Commercial Director Justin Vianello said “Quantum has enjoyed the support of the AJ Bush and Son’s team at Beaudesert and it has been very rewarding for our company to deliver a positive outcome for the site through the installation and commissioning of this 500 kilowatt (kW) biogas power plant. We look forward to working with the site to significantly expand the generation capacity over the next 12 months.”

Quantum Power offers its clients various options for electricity generation using biogas generated onsite. Generally Quantum Power installs the electricity generation infrastructure at its own cost, using the gas as fuel for the gensets, and provides clients with discounted electricity for onsite consumption.

Quantum Power has an existing biogas installation in Victoria which was commissioned in March 2010. This involved the installation of a 500 kW and a 260 kW biogas engine at a large milk processing facility in Victoria.

Quantum Power Ltd has the exclusive agency for the sale of Shengdong biogas engines in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. The company has recently extended this range to include coal seam gas engines, low British thermal unit gas engines, natural gas engines and dual-fuel engines (diesel and gas).
