DKSH
Unique features
- Multi-Contact's range of MC3 and MC4 photovoltaic (PV) connectors contain Multi-lams that distribute the heat within the connection point providing a safer and more reliable connection.
- The Multi-lams also provide continuous spring pressure that result in constant contact resistance.
Testing credentials
Article continues below…- In the climatic shock cabinet, Multi-Contact PV connectors are exposed to extreme temperature variations from -40 to +85 degrees Celsius. They are then subjected to a visual assessment and the functionality of each connector is checked.
- If these tests are passed, they are followed by a 1000-hour moist heat test at 85 per cent atmospheric humidity and 85 degrees Celsius.
- An IP test in an immersion tank shows whether the connection is watertight.
- Further electrical tests are carried out in order to determine the safety of the connectors, as well as a strain relief test and a torsion test. The connector is not released for production until it has satisfactorily passed all these tests.
WEIDMULLER
Unique features
- Weidmuller’s WM4 PV connectors provide a long-life reliable connection for PV systems. Rated at up to 30 amps 1000 volts direct connect, the WM4 connectors have been engineered to withstand all conceivable weather conditions.
- When mated, the WM4 connectors provide IP67 ingress protection and will perform in extreme temperatures of -40 to +85 degrees Celsius.
Testing credentials
- Extensive laboratory tests have proved that the Weidmuller WM4 provides the lowest possible contact resistance when mated together.
- Adherence to the DIN EN50521 standard, as well as additional TUV testing, testifies to Weidmuller's commitment to long-term quality, reliability and fit for purpose design philosophies.
Additional features
- Weidmuller has an industry heritage spanning more than 60 years in electrical cable interconnection technology. The company’s installed base of connection devices exceeds several billion connections. Its WM4 PV connectors lead in reliability and economy, and are available in over 80 countries.
HUBER+SUHNER RADOX® SOLAR
Unique features
- HUBER+SUHNER RADOX® Solar connectors consist of a housing and contact element that locks securely with a simple ‘twist lock’ function.
- The Lamella contact is made of high-quality copper beryllium allowing a high current carrying capacity of 38 amps, with the addition of the highest pulling force of over 1,000 newtons once terminated.
- RADOX Solar connectors are rated to IP67 when mated, meaning they are completely protected against dust and water immersion up to 1 metre.
- Solar connectors have no clones, which assures that RADOX Solar connectors are genuine and the connection will provide the intended high-quality performance to the solar installation for years to come.
Testing credentials
- As a manufacturer, HUBER+SUHNER can take full responsibility for the total solution of the electrical components. Connectors, cables, junction boxes are all manufactured by the company’s own factories and under a controlled environment. HUBER+SUHNER prides itself with the best Swiss Quality components. The connectors are approved by standardisation organisations such as TUV, CSA, and UL. ISO 9001 is mandatory to ensure consistent quality, ISO 14001 to ensure an environmentally friendly approach in manufacturing.
Additional features
- The connector is highly appreciated by the installer market worldwide due to the simple termination of the RADOX Solar connector. It is easily terminated in two simple steps with RADOX Solar tooling making room for error virtually impossible.
- The ruggedised design makes it more robust and without any small contact latches that could break if a customer tries to open a locked connector.
PHOENIX CONTACT
Unique features
- Spring cage connection technology in the pre-assembled SUNCLIX PV connector enables quick and easy onsite installation without expensive tools. Connector assembly is simple: (a) Insert the stripped conductor, (b) close the spring contact with one’s thumb, and (c) tighten the screw connection by hand.
- After plugging, an integrated lock – which can be opened with a screwdriver– prevents accidental loosening of the SUNCLIX connection.
- The SUNCLIX connector is suitable for a wide range of conductor cross sections, from 2.5 to 6 mm², and currents of up to 40 amps at up to 1100 volts.
- Silver-plated contacts with a steel upper spring ensure a consistently low-contact resistance over long time periods. The steel spring also provides high resistance to vibration, allowing SUNCLIX connectors to withstand the harshest weather conditions.
- The plastic housing on SUNCLIX connectors fulfil the special requirements of PV applications: long-term UV stability as well as high combustibility values and high temperature resilience.
Testing credentials
- SUNCLIX connectors are TÜV-certified according to DIN EN 50521 (2009–10) “Connectors For Photovoltaic Systems – Safety Requirements And Tests”.
- SUNCLIX connectors are rated to IP68, Protection Class II, and have an operating temperature range from -40 to +90 degrees Celsius.
Additional features
- SUNCLIX connectors are compatible with surge protection sets from Phoenix Contact, and with solar inverters from SMA.
- Compatible PV cables and Y-distributors, all with moulded SUNCLIX connectors, are also available from Phoenix Contact – by the metre or as complete custom-made cable assemblies.
