Senator Christine Milne, Deputy Leader of the Australian Greens Party, who delivered a knock-out keynote speech at last year’s EcoGen 2010 event in Sydney, will return to address the conference with her well-known sharpness and zeal.
The Hon. Mark Dreyfus, Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency will speak on the Federal Government’s climate change policy and the future of Australia’s clean energy industry.
These Federal Ministers will be joined by The Hon. Stephen Robertson, Queensland Minister for Energy and Water Utilities, who will discuss Queensland’s clean energy policy.
Allan Jones: achieving emissions reductions in the metropolis

A detailed case study will be presented by the City of Sydney’s Development Officer for Energy and Climate Change, Allan Jones.
Prior to his appointment as Development Officer Energy and Climate Change at the City of Sydney, Mr Jones was Chief Executive Officer of the London Climate Change Agency (LCCA) and prior to that Woking Borough Council’s Director of Thameswey Ltd.
During his time in London, Mr Jones set up and ran the LCCA, developed the energy and climate change elements of the London Plan, the Mayor’s Climate Change Action Plan and the new Mayoral Climate Change Statutory Duty, as well as developing and implementing decentralised energy and renewable energy projects in London.
During his time at Woking, Mr Jones reduced carbon emissions by 77.5 per cent from 1990 levels in 2004 and undertook groundbreaking work on energy efficiency, trigeneration, renewable gases from waste, alternative fuels for transport, renewable energy and fuel cells. Under Mr Jones, Woking installed 81 private wire decentralised energy systems, nearly 10 per cent of the United Kingdom’s total installed solar energy photovoltaics and the first combined heat and power fuel cell in the UK.
World leaders to come to Australia for EcoGen 2011
The Australian keynotes join World Bank’s Chief Technical Specialist for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, Daniel Kammen; and Mike Eckhart, Founder and President of the American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE), and Head of Environmental Finance at Citigroup.
Strong industry support
The event is supported by the Queensland Government as Event Partner, along with BP Solar as Platinum Sponsor. With over 30 years of experience in the solar industry and installations in over 160countries, BP Solar’s support of EcoGen 2011 is a demonstration of its leadership in the Australian market. Some of the largest solar PV electricity systems in Australia have been delivered by BP Solar, such as 100 kilowatt (kW) on a Cadbury Schweppes facility in Sydney and 200 kW on the Queen Victoria Markets in Melbourne.
The Queensland Government's Office of Clean Energy (OCE) was established to drive deployment of clean energy options (both supply and demand side) to reduce the state's carbon footprint.
The OCE is involved in a number of projects across Queensland that span energy conservation, energy efficiency, stationary and transport energy as well as demand management. The OCE is committed to integrating clean energy alternatives, energy efficiency measures and demand management options across all industries and sectors.
