The national CEIC was recently launched by Federal Innovation Minister Kim Carr. The centre has received $20 million in funding over four years and will be based in Newcastle.
The centre will offer a range of hands-on services to small and medium sized businesses in the clean energy sector including free business reviews and supporting grants, to help boost productivity and tap into the sector’s enormous potential.
The Centre will also help to build collaboration between researchers and businesses, and assist clean energy businesses to access the latest technologies and market specific information.
Other board members include Michael Fielden (Acquasol Infrastructure Ltd), Dr Tom Denniss (Oceanlinx Ltd), Vincent Hawksworth (Hydro Tasmania), Leighton White (Hofmann Engineering), Janine Ricketts (Dept of State & Regional Development), Peta Ashworth (CSIRO QCAT), Prof Rod Hill (Monash University), Nixon Apple (Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union) and Jan Dekker (Cleantech Ventures Pty Ltd).
Article continues below…Newcastle Innovation, the University of Newcastle’s commercial arm, is hosting the centre and is working in close partnership with the Australian Institute for Commercialisation and the Western Australian Sustainable Energy Association.
