The 290 kW solar PV project – developed and installed by Energy Made Clean (EMC) using LDK solar panels – cost $2.9 million to develop, with funding assistance provided by the Renewable Remote Power Generation Program from the West Australian Office of Energy.
EMC Chief Executive John Davidson said that the company is currently developing complementary technology on the site, including storage capacity that could even out fluctuations in output – which would open the way for a much larger solar installation on the site.
“We are also actively negotiating geothermal permits for the site,” Mr Davidson said.
EMC’s next major solar construction project is a 2 MW station planned for Moora in Western Australia.
