A new Australian-designed small-scale wind turbine was recently unveiled in Geelong, Victoria.
The launch featured a live demonstration of The Eco Whisper Turbine, which is a 20 kW, horizontal axis wind turbine. Designed in Australia by Renewable Energy Solutions Australia and manufactured by AUSTENG, the turbine features 30 blades, outer cowling and stands at 21 m in height.
The turbine is both on- and off-grid connectable, has a low start-up speed, is able to be erected with minimum skilled labour and has a unique extendable pole design that allows for lowering in extreme weather conditions or for maintenance purposes.
The Eco Whisper Turbine is currently pending a design patent.
