The projects to receive funding include waste water recycling and retro-fitting equipment to use waste heat for production.

The dollar for dollar program offers grants of between $10,000 and $500,000 as an incentive for small and medium manufacturers to reduce the environmental impact of their production processes.

Acting Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research Craig Emerson said that the scheme helped tackle climate change at the same time as placing manufacturers on a more sustainable footing.

Re-tooling for Climate Change is part of the Federal Government’s Clean Business Australia initiative.

The initiative comprises six rounds; round 4 closed on 24 August 2009, while round 5 will be open until 30 November 2009, and round 6 until 22 March 2010.
