Reaching its final destination ten kilometres southwest of Karmøy, Norway earlier this year, the floating windmill has been moored to the seabed with three lines.

The company said that the next step will include cable-laying to land, which is scheduled for July, and that the two year test period will start at the end of 2009.

The floating structure consists of a steel jacket filled with ballast. This floating element will extend 100 metres beneath the surface and will be fastened to the seabed by three anchor piles. The 2.3 MW turbine weighs 138 t and measures 65 m tall.

The windmill itself is built by Siemens, while Technip builds the floating elements and be in charge of the offshore installation. Nexans will install the cable to shore and Haugaland Kraft will be responsible for the landfall.
