EcoGen 2011 welcomes geothermal energy expert Donald Payne
Tue, 16 August 2011
EcoGen 2011 is pleased to announce that Dr Donald Payne, Scientific and Policy Director at Direct Energy, will address delegates at the clean energy industry’s premier Conference and Exhibition, to be held from 5–7 September at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
In a Conference session on direct-use geothermal, Dr Payne will detail how the geothermal heat pump (GHP) industry is emerging as a strong contributor to energy efficiency and power savings across homes and businesses in Australia.
GHPs provide energy efficient heating and cooling solutions to the residential and commercial markets, and give individuals and small business owners the opportunity to hedge against soaring electricity prices, reduce their carbon footprint and make a substantial contribution to Australia’s sustainability.
Dr Payne will describe Australian GHP industry developments, highlighting activities in the training of installers, the development of appropriate standards and the delivery of key projects.
Following his election to the Australian Geothermal Energy Group and Association in 2007, Dr Payne has compiled the direct-use component of the IEA-GIA Australian annual reports and has widely presented industry position papers.
Since May 2009, Dr Payne has been collaborating with the CSIRO on a direct geo-exchange cooling system for the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) and the University of Melbourne, on various ground source heat pump monitoring programs.
