Mr Ward’s presentation will analyse Australia’s geothermal energy potential through the prism of Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) and Hot Sedimentary Aquifer (HSA) technologies.

Geodynamics is currently working in joint venture with Origin Energy to explore and develop both EGS and HSA resources in the Cooper Basin, South Australia. Project progress, including the joint venture’s efforts to construct and commission a 1 megawatt electrical pilot plant, will be canvassed.

As well as discussing advances in technology, Mr Ward will assess key geothermal development challenges, and review the inclusion of geothermal power in Australia’s domestic energy security.
