Cummins Power Generation: trigeneration for the children
EcoGeneration — May/June 2011
Cummins Power Generation has been contracted to install a trigeneration system at the new Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, currently under construction.
The trigeneration system – which simultaneously produces electricity, heating and cooling – features two 1,160 kilowatt Cummins C1160N5C (QSK60) lean-burn gas generator sets. Each genset will operate for around 6,000hours a year during peak demand.
“The trigeneration plant will provide baseload power around the clock, reducing the hospital’s dependency on the grid and thus reducing electricity costs,” says David Eccleston, Business Development Manager for Cummins Power Generation.
