Construction of Hydro Tasmania’s Musselroe Wind Farm, to be located in northeast Tasmania, is set to commence in late December 2011.
The $400 million, 168 MW project will comprise 56 Vestas wind turbines.
The first stage of the project will involve construction of a 50 km transmission line connecting the farm site at Cape Portland with the network at Derby.
Establishment of site offices at Cape Portland will begin in January 2012, and it is expected the initial foundations for the wind turbines will be poured in first half of 2012.
The wind farm is expected to be completed and operating by July 2013.
