Clean energy related funding announced in the Victorian 2011-12 State Budget :

• A $41 million boost to the existing Energy Technology Innovation Strategy to support renewable and low-emission energy technology development • $5 million for the new Backing Green Business Plan, to provide businesses with incentive to implement more energy efficient practices • A $20 million Community Green Fund has been initiated for ‘green grants’ of between $10,000 and $150,000, for local communities and environment groups • $20 million for the existing Sustainable Street Lights plan, to assist councils to replace older energy-intensive lights • $8.3 million over four years will be given to continue the existing ResourceSmart Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative and Education Facility Energy Efficiency Grant program • $50,000 to investigate generating power from organic waste in Ballarat.

Queensland

Clean energy related funding announced in the Queensland 2011-12 State Budget:

• $32.9 million to invest in a range of solar initiatives including work on solar infrastructure. • A $75 million contribution to the federal government’s Solar Flagships program • $34.5 million for the existing ClimateSmart program, as part of a $60 million extension of the program. • A $6.8 million investment to develop large-scale geothermal resources Northern Territory

Clean energy related funding announced in the Northern Territory 2011-12 Territory Budget:

• $1.6 million to implement the Territory Government’s Climate Change Policy • $300,000 will go to the Territory Government’s plans to generate more efficient practices and models of environmental assessment • $200,000 to expand the virtual server infrastructure to contain the Territory Government’s information technology carbon footprint. Western Australia

Clean energy related funding announced in the West Australia 2011-12 State Budget:

• $60.5 million for works on the Pilbara Underground Power Project • $21.3 million for the completion of the Grasmere Wind Farm • $30.2 million to commence the Smart Grid Trial in the East Perth Metropolitan area • Up to $8 million to help develop new technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Western Australia.

Tasmania

Clean energy related funding announced in the Tasmanian 2011-12 State Budget: • $1 million to assess the Bass Straight Island’s potential for renewable energy use, provided via State’s Renewable Energy Fund.

South Australia

Clean energy related funding announced in the South Australian 2011-12 State Budget: • Solar hot water rebates will continue to be given to concession card holders.

New South Wales

At the time of writing this article, New South Wales had not released its 2011-12 budget. It is due to be released on 6 September.
