Technology designed by the Australian wave power company Carnegie Wave Energy has successfully completed a series of onshore tests that took place at the company’s facility in Fremantle, Western Australia.
The test program involved repeated use of the hydraulic system in different simulated conditions, as well as an assessment of the data acquisition and remote control systems. Both systems performed in line with expectations.
The hydraulic system functioned under the both sinusoidal and irregular simulated waveforms andthe data acquisition produced rapid readings that allowed for system monitoring and management in real time, via remote control.
The company has also recently released a wave monitoring buoy of the south shore of Bermuda. Data collected by the buoy will be used to determine if there is enough wave energy at the site to support a project using the company’s CETO wave power converter units.
