The plant, located near Gosford, will produce bio-crude oil that has the potential to be refined into low-emission petrol, diesel and jet fuel.

The plant will operate using Licella’s catalytic hydro thermal reactor that converts woody materials, and other bio-mass, into liquid bio-crude oil.

Trials of the catalytic hydro thermal reactor technology are set to take place early in 2012.

Funding for the plant has partially been supported through a $2.3 million grant from the Australian Government’s Second Generation Biofuels Research and Development (Gen 2) Program.

In addition to opening the plant was the announcement of four commercial agreements based on the Licella technology to advance its future deployment across a range of sectors in the Australian economy.
