Industry news and views

ATRAA is also working to expand its program to incorporate a range of technologies, including photovoltaic (PV), solar concentrators, small scale wind energy and solar and heat pump water heating. The popular, interactive ATRAA business sessions will be held each day. Geared to information sharing and discussion of common issues amongst industry participants, delegates will be encouraged to log questions and issues for discussion at the Clean Energy Council membership booth prior to each session and over the course of the event.

The ATRAA 2009 program will shortly be available on the ATRAA page of the Clean Energy Council website and will be updated and refined in the lead up to the conference.

Industry leaders talk politics

With Canberra as the host city, ATRAA is ideally placed to showcase the industry’s potential and the need for sound and supportive policy to ensure its ongoing growth.

To this end, a delegation of industry is planned for late June to coincide with the last sitting week prior to ATRAA. This delegation, a month out from the conference, also provides the opportunity to promote ATRAA to the public, media, government and other interested stakeholders.

ATRAA 2009 Industry Awards

The Clean Energy Council is proud to present the ATRAA 2009 Industry Awards, sponsored by Selectronic. The awards will be presented at the Conergy Formal Dinner on Friday 31 July at the Hellenic Club of Canberra.

This year there are more award categories on offer, including solar hot water system installation, an award for installation by a newly accredited installer, marketing and media awards. A large number of applicants are expected to showcase exceptional work in design and installation of renewable power systems and by industry partners.

The awards acknowledge superior system design, innovation, installation practices and outstanding contribution to the Australian clean energy industry.

Further information on the awards as well as application forms can be found on the event website. The Clean Energy Council encourages accredited installers to put forward an application and looks forward to seeing and showcasing high quality work from our industry.

On a solar mission

ATRAA provides key sponsors and supporters with an important opportunity to give back to the community through providing a charity organisation with a PV system to reduce their carbon footprint and electricity bill.

In 2008 ATRAA enabled the donation and installation of a 2 kilowatt Sharp Solar PV system to the St Kilda Mission in Melbourne as part of the ATRAA ‘Solar Mission’.

This year Kyocera Solar will donate the PV system to a Canberra based charity.
