1 million women cutting CO2 collectively
Thu, 11 June 2009
A new campaign aimed specifically at women, and with the aim of collectively cutting one million tonnes of CO2 emissions, has been launched by Climate Coolers, a not-for-profit, non-partisan women’s organisation.
The 1 Million Women campaign is the organisation’s first major national initiative. The campaign will use its website as the main avenue to incite, track and engage participants.
The site suggests activities that will reduce CO2 emissions, including consumer choices, behavioural changes and using renewable energy, while also providing a way to track activities. Online forums, events and workshops will also be an integral part of the campaign.
Partners and sponsors of the campaign include the Climate Institute, Solahart, BP Australia, the Australian, Queensland and New South Wales Governments, and the University of Sydney’s Institute for Sustainable Solutions.
